Morita Café 森田牧場 - (Taipei)

Morita Café has 2 outlets on the famous stretch of Yong Kang Street in Taipei,  also famous for  Yong Kang Beef Noodles 永康牛肉麵 and the original store of Din Tai Fung in the world.    We were coming past and saw that the cakes looked decent enough for a try – and despite this deserts shop not being the most impressive it was still an enjoyable experience in the end.

Normandy Apple Pie – TWD 130
This turned out to be the best cake.  The pastry crust wasn’t too hard,  but it was the crunchy apples which were slightly spiced which won our hearts.  The silver pearls made it attractive too!  ~  9/10

Strawberry Macaron – TWD 140
This looked pretty too,  although the macaron shell was a little too dry though chewy rather than crackly.  Overall I was happy with this dessert,  even if not too impressive.  ~  7/10

Mont Blanc – TWD 140
The chestnut comes as 2 parts,  the piped swirls,  and also the marron glace.  Underneath was a custard filling and despite the menu saying this is egg white meringue,  it seemed like we ate the shortcrust and almond pastry version.   Not chesnut-y enough for me though,  seemed canned.  ~  6.5/10

Djibouti Aosta – TWD 130
This had currants,  orange and strawberries in a bruleed cheese cake and pastry base.  With a pretty chocolate decoration.   This looked the prettiest,  but was a little too sweet and dry to my liking.   ~  6.5/10

Green Tea -
I ordered this because the cakes in style reminded me a bit of Japanese patisseries.  It was a little weak,  as you can see!

Overall -
I was happy enough with this place for a temporary dessert fix.  It is already at least on par with many pastry shops in Hong Kong.  And wait until I have time to post of my better dessert findings in Taipei too!
