W Hong Kong at their Kitchen restaurant, is currently doing a Fuel Your Winter themed Lunch Buffet - at $348 per person starting December 2016. Some of us were asked to come by and try out their new buffet and give some feedback, especially after some menu item changes and bringing in more Wintery food, as well as items and recipes arriving from their W Hotel Thailand and India counterparts, due to popularity with the customers.
Salad Section -
This has always been a strong point of here, with multiple vegetarian selections.
Bread Counter -
DIY Caesar Salad -
The dressing was cheesy and tangy correct, and they also have anchovies here, much needed if you ask me.
Smoked Salmon -
This is always a must item at most buffets. Some other buffets offer more such as Tea Smoked, Beetroot cured, Gravlax or even Balik Salmon versions, etc.
Sushi & Sashimi Counter -
This was ok, considering it's only lunch time. Dinner is usually more rounded in selections.
Sashimi and some Antipasti selections, Pumpkin salad, etc -
I was saying on Instagram, that sometimes, we actually long to have a 1 Plate sort of Buffet.
Lobster Claws -
For lunch. At night time, they serve the full lobster but at higher prices of course
Lobster Claw, Mussels, Brown Crab, Snow Crab Legs -
They also have boiled shrimps
BBQ Charsiu, Soy Chicken, Roast Duck and Roast Pork Counter -
The Roast pork belly is the best, not overly fatty yet soft, with crispy skin.
Clams Soup with Lemongrass -
A Thai flavored soup that suits the exotic clientele and image of W Hotel
Main Course Section for Lunch -
Starting with Roast Beef and Lamb Racks, then some Western, Asian, Thai and Indian dishes mostly..
Thai Red Curry Duck -
This was my favorite dish actually, well lubricate in the gravy and shredded well, smooth. The Curry base had a spicy kick behind the fruitiness.
Artichokes, Roast Beef, Veggies and a Cheesy Potato Tartiflette -
Loved the French tartiflette, a nice touch for complimenting with the meats.
Charcuterie Section with Duck, Prosciutto Ham and Others -
Usually these cold meats are eaten first, but I ate them later for a reason..
Cheese Section -
Mostly European and French
Cheese Fondue !
No wonder they call it Fuel the Winter. I wonder if they would even add a melty Raclette later on..
I was eating the Duck, Ham and Veggies with Bread - to Dip into the Cheese Fondue
Not the most original way to enjoy a fondue with just left-over bread, but since it's all available here, I can always warm up the meats and veggies with the hot cheese dip.
Haagan Dazs Ice Cream section - 3 Flavors Today,
Coffee, Vanilla & Strawberry
Coffee, Vanilla & Strawberry
Creme Caramel -
A large size and almost like a Flan
My Desserts Platter -
Cherry & Chocolate Religieuse, Creme Brulee, Tiramisu, Madeleine, Creme Caramel, Strawberry Ice Cream, fruits. Desserts here are lovely.
Lunch became Progressively Packed towards 1pm -
At only $348 for Lunch from Monday to Friday, this could be an enjoyable Lunch Buffet option if you are in Elements Area - considering that there is no Time Limits except lunch hours. And personally I thought the desserts here were the biggest attraction, and it could even become a bridge between Lunch together with Afternoon Tea time.
