Le Dome de Cristal as already mentioned, is owned by the Ambrosia Group (Previous review: Le Dome de Cristal I ). Le Dome de Cristal is named after the famous drinks by Louis Roederer and their famed Cristal champagnes. On this Saturday, we got invited over to try out their new weekend Brunch Menu. I don’t usually do much buffet brunch events but upon hearing that they will be serving Unlimited 36 Months Jamon Iberico ham and with a Main Course for $480, it piqued my curiosity enough. Unlimited free-flow Louis Roederer Champagne can be had for an additional $280.
My 1st time here during Day Time -
Buffet Table -
More about quality, than quantity.
$280 for Unlimited Free-flow Louis Roederer Champagne -
Slightly toasty and crisp green apple like today.
Bread Basket -
Love the crispy Musica sheets. Aka Pane Carasau ..
Unlimited 36 months Jamon Iberico -
I have been standing here all day long. Please excuse me..
I got about 10 plates of these -
Hope the restaurant isn’t losing money because of moi… : @
More Charcuterie Platter and Cornichon pickles -
Boccocini Mozzarella Cheese with Tomatoes and Basil -
Salad Bar -
Love the fried Jamon. It’s slightly honey glazed…
I ate a lot of it by itself.
Crab Meat filled Tomatoes with Ikura roes or Masago Roes -
Smoked Salmon with Capers and Pickled Pearl Onions -
6 Seasonal Oysters included in $488 price - Tasmanian today
Later on, they will try to serve 2-3 different regional oysters when they are in season. Super fresh and oceanic, I will rather have these high quality Oysters than the unlimited ones served in buffets.
Foie Gras and Champagne jelly, Smoked Eels, Seafood Salad and Boccocini Cheese, etc -
All Unlimited of course.
Main Course #1 – Fish & Chips
Didn’t get to eat this but they gave us the next table’s order, so I took a picture for your reference.
Main Course #2 - Fried Duck Egg and Poached Asparagus
This recipe startled me actually, because usually it’s grilled asparagus served with poached duck egg, here it is just the opposite! ~ 7/10
Main Course #3 - USDA Rib Eye Steak with Potato Wedges and Grilled Vegetables
This was sliced thin but came as a big slab, like a French Entrecote steak. It has a good grilling aroma. I prefer it to be even more tender but the flavour was good. ~ 7/10
Main Course #4 - Grilled Prawns and Jamon Linguine Pasta
This surprisingly had a lot of garlic and less sauce than imagined. It was good for a lunch pasta, and the portion was huge. I can’t help but be reminded of their Lobster and Red Prawn Pasta during night time too… ~ 7/10
Main Course #5 - Lamb Shank with Mushrooms, Mashed Potato
Cooked until fork tender, this had a lot of red wine taste in it. This is something unexpected in a Hong Kong restaurant, but so appreciated. Yummy and gelatinous. ~ 9/10
Green Tea and Red Bean Cakes -
Actually this was surprising to me as the Matcha taste was quite strong.
If not for the unlimited Jamon Iberico ham and the Main Course, I would have eaten a lot of this ~ 8/10
Lemon Tart -
The eggs in the lemon curd to me were a bit too potent and raw in taste, the pastry shell can probably be a little more crumbly. ~ 5/10
Unlimited New York Cheesecake -
This was really good, slightly sour and very cheesy. One of the best versions I have eaten in town definitely. ~ 8/10
Raspberry Mille-Feuille -
Probably a bit unfair to ask my opinion, as I have utmost stubbornness when it comes to Mille-Feuille pastries and only Paris Standard exists in my books. This one was at least cute, that’s all I have to say…
French Cheeses -
All good quality, artisanal grade stuff. You won’t find these in buffet settings in HK.
Really appreciate Le Dome de Cristal providing these at all. As mentioned above – it’s Quality over Quantity.
Unlimited French Cheeses, and plenty of Desserts.
Had about 3 of the Champagne Jellies in Verrine style too… -
Thinking back, I wondered how I ate so much Jamon ham, Mains and everything else. It was a nice Saturday Brunch indeed.
Some Breakfast Tea to finish the Day -
Great Value for Money -
$480 with 6 Shucked Oysters, one Main Course, unlimited Jamon Iberico and French Cheeses, plus many more. An additional $280 for free-flow Louis Roederer Champagne. I have to re-iterate that I ate about 10 plates of those 36 months Jamons, so may be I am a little biased and overly excited.
