富豪酒家 (Fu Ho) - ♕♕♕♕ 1/2

Michelin 1 Star

Next to 3 Stars Status Sun Tung Lok, originally a shark’s fin restaurant, sits a competitor 1 Star Fu Ho more celebrated for their 阿翁鮑魚 abalone, and also poultry dishes.  They actually have a Free Corkage policy here, which is hard to find in HK anywhere.   Needed a quick lunch 1 day after working in this area and wanted to revisit Sun Tung Lok but they were full.  I knew my next choice would be Genki Ippai Ya’s Tonkatsu but wanted less porky food, so came here for yum cha instead.  Everything was pretty well executed actually..  it gives me enough confidence to return and order their more expensive a-la-carte dishes during lunch or dinner!

Peanuts & Sauce -
Not free !

Tea
Iron Buddha -
Tea is important during a Yum Cha session, and this was quite good

Deep Fried Yam Fritters (蜂巢荔芋角) -  $28
Nice external crust.  Inside?  A little dry, but not bad   7/10

Steamed Dumpling with Shark’s Fin in Broth (魚翅頂湯餃) -  $90
They call it a 頂湯餃 here, so people can’t argue it’s not a traditional 罐湯餃.  This is decent, without being exceptional in anything.  The one served in Man Wah was just so much more sophisticated but the soup here was still quite well done   7.5/10

Sea Cucumber in Beancurd Roulade (遼參腐皮卷) -  $38
This was perfectly done, with some crunchy sea cucumbers inside. I also loved the sauce on this as it’s not overly gooey and thick.  Definitely worth reordering!  ~  10/10

Steamed Glutinous Rice (千層糯米飯) -  $38
This had alternating layers of flavoured or plain glutinous rice, with a bit of salted egg yolk.  I don’t mind eating this to replace my rice for lunch !  ~  9/10

I think this could be an interesting venue for a Dining Gathering!
But right now, I’ll have to say the Yum Cha Dim Sum’s here were solidly done, and they also felt very healthy for some reason as there’s not much oily or lardy bits..

  2. That is pretty yummy! I think this resto at least execute the dim sum well generally, but there are many more items I haven't tried. :(
