Butler - [Japanese Cocktail Bar]

This brand new Japanese Cocktail Bar is owned by a half-Japanese and Hong Kong owner,  who speaks more Japanese than Cantonese.   According to another bar tender who recommended me to visit here -  he knows over 2,000 recipes for cocktails and most of them are not covered on the menu.  There is also a good selection of Whisky’s available and some good French wines.   Please be reminded that this is a ‘soft bar’,  which in the Japanese interpretation is a venue where drinkers are expected to behave and not speak too loudly to affect other customers!

Cheesy Nibbles -
Cover charge is $30 per person

P7131851-1
Fruit Cocktail “Peach” -
As with most Japanese bars, they carry seasonal daily Fruit Cocktails.
Made with fresh Japanese peach puree, vodka and 2 types of Peach Liqueur (Asahi and Monin), and fresh basil,  this was very refreshing and very Japanese like…

P7131860-1
Japanese Umeshu  (Plum or Young Apricot) -
The young apricot liqueur is apparently quite light,  with a squarish ice block

P7131853-1
Charlie Chaplin -  Europe Style
There are 2 versions of this served in Butler.   Non-Japanese customers by default get the normal version made with Gin and Bols Apricot liqueurs,  and also lemon juice.  This is a style of drink that I like…

P7131867-1
Charlie Chaplin #2 – Japanese Style
This is a special order,  and differs from the above as it has more crushed ice,  but is much more concentrated at the bottom at the beginning.  You’ll need this to melt a little more before you can start really drinking it !

  1. I went to this bar the other day and had a quite satisfying time and drink. It's not a place to party with your friends but enjoy the atomosphere with superb cocktails...
I had a beer, mojito (with plum liquor, grenadine liquor and grand marnier!) and grape fruit cocktail! My boy friend had Moscow mule, rather too ordinary one, but it tasted so special, and one of the sakes which he said he just loved it.
I'm Japanese so Butler remineds me of a bar my boss would take me after work, that is, rather old school? but I like this bar totally. The bill would double if you had the same amount of drink in a same kind of Tokyo, by the way...(given the current strong JPY...Sigh.)
Anyway, I will definitely be a regular customer and want to try their food next time!
