珠記 [ Hong Kong ] - Fresh Seafood from Ap Lei Chau & Aberdeen, Fair Prices when Ordered with a Budget in Mind !

Chu Kee 珠記大排檔 inside Ap Lei Chau Municipal Services Building is pretty popular among the Locals here in Ap Lei Chau and also Aberdeen (Not to be confused with another Chu Kee in Aberdeen serving Fast Food,  nor the one in Happy Valley serving Shark Fins either).  My previous visit to this upstairs Dai Pai Dong was already a few years ago, back then I used to come to Ap Lei Chau more often as we had some business within the same block.  This time around I was bugged to revisit again this building.  The shop adjacent next to here has more Seafood options but service there has always been cocky abysmal.   Over here in comparison, they do have more fresh swimming seafood but less varieties too as a compromise.  Service is equally blunt but probably slightly better by a smidgen than the shop to the left of here ..

Prices have Crept Up with Inflation, not Unexpected.  But it is still Manageable..
You can Order Seafood directly here,  or Buy your own Seafood downstairs.. Part of the Fun of dining near the Seafood Markets in HK.  Bringing your own Seafood incurs a charge of $80 per Tael of Seafood, up from $60 in the past. Actually the next door's cocky shop still charges the past $60,   but I honestly hate their intimidating service and they are always full anyway... so back to Chu Kee we come.

鹽油水蒸蟶子皇 -
Salt & Oil, Soy Sauce, Spring Onions Steamed Razor Clams with Vermicelli noodles $190
Garlic was opted to be omitted this time because to me, it overwhelms the fresh Razor Clams sweetness. This was so tender sweet good and came as 5 pieces per Tael Unit. Need some White Rice now to soak up the sauce ! ~ 9/10

White Rice - $9
Needed some Rice with our Seafood

Stir-fried Fresh Squid with Morning Glory Vegetables with Fermented Beancurd Sauce & Chopped Chili - 魷魚椒絲腐乳炒通菜 $80
The Veggies were a bit old and tough, and the Fermented Beancurd sauce could be stronger in taste. The Squid Calamari were quite fresh though and nicely presented. Overall this was the weakest dish for the night.. ~ 6.5/10

Fried Baby Pigeon with Spiced Salt, Pineapples & Worcester Sauce - 紅燒乳鴿 $68
Not my 1st time to this Cooked Food Centre's Seafood Stall, but its my 1st time ordering their Pigeon, as I saw another table eating it and it smelled lovely.  Tenderly cooked and moist, Well Marinated,  with Crispy External Skin. Very good indeed for what is predominantly a Seafood Restaurant. The Breast part was actually quite gamey so it pairs well with a bold Red Wine.. ~ 9/10

Salt & Pepper Fried Shell-on Abalones - 椒鹽大連新鮮鮑魚
A few places nowadays do this recipe in HK especially in all the Sea side Restaurants. I have always liked the version here because they put in enough Chilis, Black Pepper, Garlic, they are Plump and are not overly fried, etc.  HKD $150 for 4 Abalones.

Nowadays I Prefer to just Order Seafood directly from Here,  rather than Buying Seafood Separately from the Market Downstairs and then paying the $80 per Tael Processing fee here -

I am pretty sure here they do get very fresh Seafood from local seas and from overseas anyway here too from over the years of eating here,  you just got to trust them..  Free Wine Corkage here too by the way.
