Even before I left Melbourne, there were plenty of Korean joints opening up here. The same can be said about regional Chinese cuisine. This has finally trickled down to having fast food joints such as this Bibimbap bar, which allow customers to choose their own toppings - or the base. Talk about customization !
Found this while,
going next door to a famous Café !
Choose your 5 toppings per Bowl, mostly Namul -
This shop is owned by some Korean owner,
as you would expect in Melbourne where there are lots of Koreans nowadays!
Chili Sauce and Sweetened Soy to mix with your Bibimbaps -
Bowl #1 - Served in the heated Dolsot, which costs $2.0 more - AUD $8.90
So you can get some part of the rice which is more ‘crackly’! And keeps warm longer during winter. This comes with Dried Beancurd, Fish Cake, Beef, Spinach and Eggplant. ~ 7.5/10
Bowl # 2 - Mushroom, Spinach, Fish Cake, Bean Sprouts, Eggplant, Chicken
Pretty decent fast food for only AUD $6.90 ~ 7/10
Bowl #3 – A Bibimbap Naengmyeon
Comes with warmed ‘Naengmyeon noodles’, which is apparently more of a recent Korean trendy thing, as this type of noodles is normally served cold in steel bowls. The starchiness has been washed away well, which makes these not as sticky as they could be. Surprisingly worked very well with the chicken, namul and chili sauce ! ~ 7/10
Price: AUD $6.90 – $8.90 per person
