Shiro Kuma Curry 白熊咖哩 - (Hong Kong)

The story behind Shirokuma Curry from Hokkaido Japan is intriguing – the owner is a Ramen shop owner but also a curry aficionado.   Cooking his daily curries as staff meal for his ramen shop workers,  regular customers started noticing this staff-only curry meal and secretly asked for off-menu tastings.   A few years later,  ramen shop owner opened his separate curry specialist shop!

More on the Economical side -
Curry houses divide into either the higher end or budget category.  This seems to belong to the latter…

Onion Beef Slices and Beef Sauce Curry Rice -  $65
I actually ordered ginger pork but this came instead,  nevermind.  The presentation was a little messy.   The curry sauce was thick,  but doesn’t have much spice flavouring.  More like a gravy.  Of course you can build on the heat by ordering different heat levels.   ~  6/10

Pork Tonkatsu -  $25
Curry Houses in Japan usually have either good Pork Cutlets or what resembles Pre-Manufactured types,  which the pork is overly tenderized and the panko crumbs are not very pretty.  This unfortunately belongs to the 2nd category and was rather tasteless and even had an oil stench.  But for this price it’s appropriate.  ~  6/10
