Chiu Hing (潮興魚旦粉) - ♕♕♕♕

Chiu Hing is a Chiu Chow styled Fish Ball Noodles shop, but apparently its their marinated Beef Briskets and Flanks which regular customers return for.

Normally I wouldn’t have given this shop a ‘4’ rating, as the food isn’t anywhere impressive compared to the better shops in Hong Kong.  However I ordered their hand-made Fish Paste noodles this time, and on this singular occasion was enjoyable.

The Beef Briskets and Tendons Pot… in master stock.

Fish balls were just ok. Flank was tender and not overly over-ridden by the five spice & master stock.  Soup had a strongish Pork Bones taste, but artificially so. I suspect manufactured pork bone powders were used here ~  7/10

This was pretty good, and came as thinnish flattened strips rather than the piped and round type often served in Shun Tak (順德) cuisine shops…

  1. I'm sure even your below average Chiu Chow restaurant hole in the wall in HK is miles (or kilometers) better than what we (don't) have in the USA :-o. Tell them to open up a shop abroad and they will make so much money haha.

  2. I think that is possibly true, but I must admit I haven't tried much Chiu Chow restaurants or stalls in the US before. But I am sure you know about it enough to complain haha!
