瀰月屋 (Mitsukiya) – ♕♕♕ 1/2

IMG_6678
Designed just like a Kyoto style 町屋, newly opened 瀰月屋 sells both
Japanese 和菓子 and Western Style desserts..

Menu has an extensive list of interesting desserts..

Plum Soup -
As a Digestivo rather than Aperitive, as owner knows his customers are coming in after lunch or dinner. Very thoughtful and tasty drink ~  9/10

Japanese Style, Muscovado Caramelised Pop Corns -
Pretty good… ~ 8/10

#1  Kuzumochi (蕨餅) -
This was served with Kinako Powder, but it was missing the Black Sugar or Honey sauce on top.
The mochi also isn’t as chewy as it should, it would be better if its more sticky and wobbly ~
6.5/10

#2  Purple Sweet Potato Fold 紫薯茶巾 -
Made with both a yellow and purple sweet potato as base, this is made daily as limited production only,
so it might run out quickly.  Interesting dessert ~ 7/10

Seed1
Filled with toasted pumpkin seeds..

#3  湯菓子 of Lotus Seeds and Lily Bulbs -
This is more of a 汁粉 to be more accurate. I think the serving size is too big,
somehow it didn’t seem very authentic ~ 6/10

  1. Hmmm my grandparents used to live in Tin Hau in the 80s. Never thought that 30 years later it would have a variety of cool eats, including this quaint looking shop! Is it run by a Japanese guy?

  3. I am not really a big fan of Japanese Wagashi dessert to be honest! So don't trust what I write about this place or rating.

To Beef No Guy, in fact the owner here is Hongkie, but he loves Japanese so much he decided to do a lot of research and learn about the various recipes. Tin Hau is changing man! I have lived intermittently in this area for years too, everytime its changing.

No really really good restaurants, except Kin's Kitchen, but a lot of down to earth ones and numerous dessert shops! Fun area :D
